Betty M. Easley
Betty M. Easley, 76, of Vandalia died Monday, Aug. 11, 2008 at Boone Hospital Center in
Columbia.
Funeral services were Saturday at 3 p.m., at Waters Funeral Chapel in Vandalia.
Officiating was the Rev. Bob Hoehn. Interment was in Farber Cemetery.
Visitation was Saturday from 1 p.m., until service time at Waters Funeral Chapel in
Vandalia.
She was born Oct. 28, 1931 in Vandalia, the daughter of John Wesley and Anabel (Lowry)
McCollum. She married Frank E. Easley on June 9, 1951 in Vandalia. She survives at the
home.
Other survivors include two sons, Glenn E. Easley and wife, Mary of Columbia and Roger
E. Easley and wife, Diane of Decatur, Ga.; one brother, James K. McCollum and wife,
Barbara of Huntsville, Ala.; one sister-in-law, Nadine McCollum of Michigan; four
grandchildren, Matthew Easley of Washington, D.C., Sarah Easley of Columbia, Michelle
Easley and Daniel Easley, both of Decatur, Ga.
Betty was a life-long Vandalia resident and a 1949 graduate of Vandalia High School.
After high school, she attended the University of Missouri-Columbia for two years where
she met the love of her life, Frank E. Easley. Betty was a homemaker and long-time
member of the Southside Baptist Church in Vandalia, where she taught Sunday school
and bible school. She was also the caretaker of the church for many years. Betty enjoyed
spending time with her family, reading, cooking, sewing, her cats and watching television.
She was preceded in death by one brother, Wesley L. McCollum.
