Izola J. Peake
Izola J. Peake, 100, died Thursday at her home.
Funeral services were held 1 p.m. Monday at the Mudd-Veach Funeral Home in Bowling
Green with Rev. Gilbert Shepherd officiating. Burial was at the Curryville Cemetery.
Visitation was held from 11 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.
She was born Jan. 31, 1908 in Bowling Green, the daughter of Murry James and Ollie
Richard McPike Shepherd. She was married to Basil Peake. He preceded her in death.
Survivors include her sister, Ruth Borndes who cared for her and several nephews, nieces
and cousins.
Preceding her in death were two brothers, Orey Shepherd and Willard Shepherd; three
sisters, Dorothy Estill, Opal Drake and Beatrice who died in infancy.
Izola attended elementary school in Curryville, high school in Louisiana and attended
Lincoln College in Jefferson City. Following college she was a school teacher in Curryville
and worked for the railroad throughout her life. She spent most of her life living in Salt
Lake City, Utah. She spent the last 4 ½ years at home with her sister who cared for her.
She was a loving caring person who loved music, played the piano and loved flowers. She
had many friends.
Serving as pallbearers were Alvin Taylor, Jayson Fowler, Milford Shepherd, Terry
Shepherd, Thomas Borndes and Mark Shepherd.
Memorials may be made to the donor’s choice.
