Charles West To Face Additional
Charges For Recent Escape
Charles A. West, 23, of Bowling Green, will likely be facing additional charges after
escaping from the Pike County Jail on Wednesday, July 16.
The incident took place at about 9:30 p.m. Pike County Sheriff Jim Wells said West gained
access by making a hole in the fence surrounding the recreational area. He noted
members of the Sheriff’s Department, Bowling Green Police Department and Missouri
Highway Patrol participated in the search.
West, who was incarcerated on charges of felonious restraint, resisting arrest and
probation violation, was free for only a short time before being apprehended.
Bowling Green Police Chief Steve Kruse reports Sgt. Stephen Korte responded to a report
of a subject attempting to gain entry into a vehicle at 413 E. Champ Clark Drive. The
subject was witnessed running behind the residence.

Sgt. Korte began a foot search of a wooded area at the rear of that location and observed
West exiting the woods. Sgt. Korte approached West and ordered him to the ground. West
was taken into custody without incident and was returned to the Pike County Jail.
The report has been turned over to Pike County Prosecutor Mark Fisher for review.
Individuals charged with a crime are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of
