Time To Purchase Luminaries For Relay
The 2008 Pike County Relay for Life is quickly approaching, along with the earlier
deadline for having your Luminaries printed in the Memorial Booklet.
This year's Relay will take place on Friday, Sept. 19 at the Pike County Fairgrounds in
Bowling Green, with the Opening Ceremony starting at 6 p.m. Everyone is invited to
purchase a luminary to honor a loved-one who has experienced cancer.
The names of those being honored will be read, and luminaries will be lit during a beautiful
ceremony held at dusk. In order for your luminary to be printed in the Memorial Booklet, it
must be received by Debbie Scherder, no later Tuesday, Aug. 19.
You can mail them or drop them off at the USDA Service Center on Business Highway 61
South in Bowling Green. This deadline is only for having names printed in the Relay
Memorial Booklet. Luminaries can still be purchased right up until the Opening Ceremony
at Relay. Those luminaries purchased after the printing deadline will be included in the
lighting ceremony, and names will be read.
