Challenge Grant Issued To
Memorial Golf Tournament
It has been announced that this year’s Sara Straube Anders Memorial Golf Tournament
has received a Challenge Grant which will match whatever amount raised, dollar for dollar,
up to $10,000. In other words, it is an opportunity to double the money.
It is a wonderful way to mark the sixth and last fundraiser. As many know, the tournament
raises money for the Sara Straube Anders Scholarships, which awards funds to local
college students majoring in elementary education. or first year teachers.
Sara had finished her student teaching when she died unexpectedly of leukemia in 2003.
To date, they have given out more than $11,000 to young teachers.
If anyone is donating items to the tournament, please include the dollar value. All cash
contributions, including the dollar value of donated items, will go toward the $10,000
match. However, monies or items received after the golf tournament will not go toward the
matching grant.
Since this is the last fundraiser they would appreciate consideration in supporting this
worthy cause. They would also like to put names on the sponsor list, which they post the
day of the tournament and for the local papers, so everyone may be recognized for their
support.
